Annaka Mitchell was recently arrested on a child cruelty charge while she was free on bail from a child molestation arrest.
Mitchell, 19, was arrested on the molestation charge in March 2024 for allegedly having perpetrated an “immoral and indecent act” against a 12-year-old girl in Athens. She was also charged with multiple counts of obscene internet contact with the child.
She was released the following month on a $6,000 bond made conditional on her not having contact with the girl.
Bail was revoked in January after the girl’s mother notified law enforcement that her daughter told her about going to a movie with Mitchell, who may have also committed an additional act of child molestation.
The prosecutor’s motion to revoke bail also noted that Mitchell has a criminal case pending in Oglethorpe County that involves charges of aggravated assault, child molestation and child cruelty.
A hearing on whether Mitchell’s bail should remain revoked is scheduled for April 25.
