A teenager has been arrested in Jackson County for making threats aimed at fellow students.

It was the second time in less than a week that a student has been for making such threats

Jackson County Sheriff Kevin McCook today released the following:

Overnight, deputies acting on a tip from the FBI / GBI arrested Christopher Aiden Banks, 17, for one felony count of Terroristic Threats and Acts regarding online threats toward school students. Christopher is home schooled and no specific school was named. The incident appears to be isolated and the investigation is still ongoing. Family members have been cooperative with law enforcement. All county schools were notified.

"Parents please talk to your children. Discuss the serious nature of these types of threats and comments. We will continue to hold people accountable. Thank you to our patrol deputies and investigators for swift action."

On January 26 the sheriff released this:

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest following the investigation into a school related threat at East Jackson Middle School. The juvenile suspect has been taken into custody and charged with one felony count of Terroristic Threats and Acts. The Sheriff's Office and the Jackson County School System have been in close communication with each other throughout the case. Although the investigation is ongoing, it appears to be isolated to the one individual. The suspect's parents have been cooperative with law enforcement. "We are very thankful for our school resource officers and investigators. Their swift and diligent work helped bring about a safe and successful resolution to the matter. I also want to thank school Superintendent Dr. Phillip Brown and his staff for their assistance. We take these types of threats seriously and will act accordingly."
