Arrest made for Athens Gardens bystander shooting

By Joe Johnson

A suspect has been arrested in the shooting of a bystander during a weekend altercation at Athens Gardens.

Ambria Shantara Rhodes, 29, allegedly fired several gunshots from a

car, one of which struck 29-year-old Ayeshia Bullock in the face.

Witnesses reportedly told police that Bullock had been “beefing” with people while attending a block party and that she returned home to Athens Gardens early Sunday morning still wanting to fight.

After retrieving a gun from her apartment Rhodes got into her car and fired the weapon three times as she was driving away, according to police.

Bullock, who lives on South Milledge Avenue and was visiting with people at the 180 building on Coleridge Court, was struck by a bullet that lodged in her jaw, police said.

Witnesses indicated that the victim and suspect had no relationship with each other, and they had not been fighting, according to police.

Rhodes was booked into the county jail late Thursday afternoon and was being detained without bail being set.
