An Athens man is hospitalized with a stab wound while his brother is in jail for attacking him with a knife.
The incident happened at about half past midnight on December 29 at a homeless camp off of Hobson Avenue, where 47-year-old Leseco Gresham was living with his girlfriend.
The woman had been in a dispute concerning a cellphone with Leseco’s brother, Laundejo Gresham, 46, of Lillian Drive, who went to the camp and forced his way into the couple’s tent.
A fight involving all three parties ensued during which Leseco was stabbed in the abdomen. His girlfriend was applying pressure to the stab wound with some clothing when police arrived, and Leseco was subsequently transported by ambulance to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
When police located Laundejo near the camp entrance on Hobson Avenue, he was in possession of four pocket knives.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife in the commission of a felony.
The next day a Magistrate Court judge denied bail for Laundejo on the grounds he posed a threat to his brother and might fail to show up for scheduled court appearances.
The judge also bound the case over to Superior Court for indictment.
A review of records shows that Laundejo Gresham has criminal cases in Superior and State courts dating to 1995.
Leseco Gresham is expected to fully recover, per a police report.
