A local man was arrested this week after he crashed his pickup truck into a building while allegedly driving drunk in northwest Athens-Clarke County.

In the early morning hours on Monday, 33-year-old Kaharie Beasley of Athens was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 north on Jefferson Road where he lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the roadway and went into the Petro Express gas station’s parking lot, striking an unoccupied car at the gas pumps, according to Georgia State Patrol Sgt. First Class Ian Moreman.

The truck then rotated, and its front end crashed into the gas station’s building that also houses Food Mart and Taqueria Juaritos, the state trooper said, adding that “no pedestrians were struck and no injuries were reported.”

Beasley was arrested for driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.
