Athens man critically injured when stabbed by son

A 42-year-old Athens man was hospitalized in critical condition Monday morning after being stabbed by his son at their home on Cardinal Creek Lane.

Officers responded shortly before 3a.m. to the home located off Whitehead Road near the Jackson County line and found that the victim had been stabbed multiple times.

They rendered life-saving efforts until medical personnel took over and transported the victim to the hospital.

An investigation determined that the attacker had been the victim’s son, 20-year-old Caleb Antoine Allen, who fled the scene in a vehicle that was subsequently located by deputies in Jackson County, who arrested Allen and returned him to Athens.

Allen was charged under the state Family Violence Act by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, obstruction of a 911, and felony theft by taking.
