Athens man fights off armed home invaders

By Joe Johnson

A 53-year-old man Monday night fought off a pair of armed intruders who entered the bedroom of his Broadacres Court apartment and demanded money.

Police responded to the scene after neighbors called 911 to report a disturbance in the victim’s home.

Officers found the room to be in total disarray from the altercation.

The victim’s nephew told of rushing into the bedroom to help only to be forced at gunpoint to sit on the bed, as he watched his uncle fight with the male suspect who then fled empty handed with his female accomplice.

The initial investigation by police determined that it

had been known in the apartment complex that the victim was excited about having received a large check for back payment of Social Security benefits.

I get paid over $130 1 to 3 hours working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I'd be able to do it but my best friend earns over $27k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless.

Home invasion should be one crime that carries a minimum sentence when convicted. A person's home is their castle, so I'd say about 25 years minimum.
