The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is investigating the possible rape of a student the night of the Georgia-Tennessee college football game.

According to a police report, officers responded to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday to investigate a report of a possible rape.

They met with an 18-year-old University of Tennessee student who said that on Saturday night she had gone with friends to the 1785 Bar & Grill on East Clayton Street to watch the football game on television.

The student related that she had three vodka Red Bull cocktails, but didn’t remember what happened next until her friends later found her at the suspect’s home.

She was located after the friends contacted her mother, who used the Life360 smartphone application to find her daughter’s location at a residence on Arch Street.

The friends described the student as being disheveled upon leaving the suspect’s home, with he top unzipped. The student related that she didn’t have on the panties that she’d been wearing at the bar.

Patrol officers took the student for ba rape exam at the Family Protection Center and referred the case to detectives for further investigation.
