Athens schools will be closed for predicted winter storm

The Clarke County School District this afternoon released the following:

Due to the strong likelihood of inclement weather (mixture of snow and ice) based on current forecasts, all CCSD schools and district offices will be closed on Friday, January 10. However, in order to adhere to state requirements for the number of days that school is considered in session, Friday will still be a remote active learning (asynchronous) day for students. Individual schools will be providing additional information about student work expectations for the day. 

All extracurricular activities, including sporting events, will also be canceled Friday and throughout this weekend. 

Based on the current forecast, all schools and district offices are scheduled to reopen on Monday, January 13. CCSD will communicate all updates and any changes to these plans on our website (www.clarke.k12.ga.us), across our social media platforms (@ClarkeCoSchools), and via text message and email through our family mass notification system.
