Athens student injured in knife attack at school bus stop

A student was injured by a knife-wielding attacker Wednesday morning at a bus stop near Parkview Homes apartments off West Broad Street.

The student was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Schools Superintendent Robbie Hooker said in an email to parents.

“We ask that you join us in sending positive thoughts to the student for a quick recovery and encourage all of our students, staff and families to remain alert of their surroundings,” Hooker said in the email.

An arrest reportedly was made by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. but details of the incident have yet to be released.
