Trevarious Stephens,19, was arrested October 16 after he reportedly threatened his mother with a pistol during an altercation in their home on Leann Drive.

According to a report from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, Tammy Stephens described the incident with her son as follows:

When things escalated to a physical altercation, the teen pushed his 42-year-old mother into a kitchen table, then grabbed an oscillating fan and struck Tammy in her shoulder and chest, breaking it into pieces.

When Tammy picked up a piece of the broken appliance and struck her son with it, Trevarious went back into the living room and got the pistol and pointed it at her. Tammy then ran into her bedroom and called 911.

When ordered to take his hands out of his pockets, the teen removed the gun from his sweatshirt and tossed it to the side of the road. He complied with an order to get on the ground, at which time he was handcuffed and placed into a police car.

A judge granted him bail the following day, and he was released on a $1,000 bond under conditions he stay away from his mother and her home and undergo a mental health evaluation at Advantage Behavioral Health Systems.
