An Athens woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when she she lost control of her vehicle on an icy roadway and it struck tree.
The incident happened at about 4:10 p.m. when 33-year-old Kendra Sims was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer on Danielsville Road.
Police said that while negotiating a curve near Harve Mathis Road, Sims lost control of the vehicle on a patch and ice and it left the roadway and its driver’s side slammed into a tree.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
