Athens woman indicted for trying to drown son, suffocate daughter

A Clarke County grand jury has indicted an Athens woman on charges she attempted to drown her son and suffocate her daughter.

Asiyah Haneef Little, 21, caused excessive physical and mental pain to the boy by holding his head under water, and to the girl by placing a pillow over her face, according to the indictment filed Tuesday in Superior Court.

The incidents allegedly occurred at the family’s Live Oak Place home on October 2nd, when Little was arrested on two counts of first -degree cruelty to children.

The woman was released on bail with the conditions she could only have supervised visits with her children and that she continue to receive mental health treatment from Advantage Behavioral Health Systems and her therapist.

Little is scheduled to be arraigned February 18.
