A 13year-old boy was arrested last week at Hilsman Middle School after he allegedly poked another student with a pocketknife.
The incident reportedly happened last Tuesday morning when the students were roughhousing while on the way to school on the bus.
A girl told police that the student with the knife was her best friend with whom she frequently play fights.
During the bus incident she kicked at him in response to him slapping her face and the boy jabbed at her tennis shoes with a pocketknife.
As the police gathered information about the matter, the boy attempted to leave school grounds and had to be restrained and carried back to the principal’s office.
He was charged in a juvenile complaint with possession of a weapon in a school safety zone, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and disrupting operations of a school bus.
The Department of Juvenile Justice gave instructions to release the student to his mother.
