“Bunny” to undergo complicated surgery at UGA vet hospital

From the Society of Humane Friends Georgia:

Bunny is the sweetest little girl and she’s at UGA about to undergo a pretty complicated surgery this morning. Bunny came to us as an unclaimed stray from a local shelter with two of the largest abdominal hernias we’ve ever seen. They are so large and hang so low that they cause her to have to “hop” as she walks, hence her name.

Bunny ended up in the ER a few days ago when she quit eating and became painful and lethargic. She was hospitalized in the intensive care unit at UGA. Bunny was subsequently diagnosed with diabetes on top of her hernia issue. The wonderful team at UGA has gotten Bunny’s blood glucose stabilized and today she will undergo surgery to repair her hernias. She has a reasonably good prognosis and we are hoping this procedure will give her the opportunity to enjoy some quality years with a loving new family.

Update at 4 p,m. Friday from SHFG:

She had her surgery today. She is stable and will be recovering ICU for the next few days. So far, so good.

Donations towards Bunny’s medical care are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated.

Anyone who wishes to donate can do so at https://www.sohfga.com/support-us.html.
