The following was released today by the Clarke County School District:

The Clarke County School District and Athens Community Career Academy invite all current ninth- and 10th-grade students and their families to a Pathway Showcase on Thursday, March 6, from 5:30-7 p.m. at ACCA, 440-1 Dearing Extension.

This event will introduce students interested in attending ACCA to career pathway programs that still have openings for the 2025-26 school year. Teachers and current students will be leading tours of the instructional labs and student workspaces, doing demonstrations, and providing additional information about the career opportunities presented by each pathway.

ACCA is open to all eligible CCSD students in grades 10-12 and offers a unique and innovative educational experience that complements the instruction they receive at their home high school. In addition to participating in high school- and college-level career-themed pathways, students at ACCA can earn early college essentials course credits, obtain industry-recognized certification credentials, and participate in professional apprenticeships and internships through the local workforce across a wide range of in-demand economic sectors in the northeast Georgia area and Southeast region.

Pathways with openings remaining next school year that will be showcased at the event include:

● Biotechnology - This new, three-course pathway introduces students to the science of using natural biological processes to manufacture products to solve human problems through a variety of methods.

● Broadcast Video and Film Production - Through this three-course pathway, students prepare for a career in audiovisual technology and gain experience in writing, filming, directing, and editing broadcast video productions, short films/documentaries, and more.

● Entertainment, Sports, and Event Management - Through this three-course pathway, students gain experience in planning and marketing, budgeting and contracts, and facilitating large events like concerts, sporting events, and conferences. They also learn skills related to hospitality and tourism marketing and management.

Any student who is unable to attend the March 6 event but is still interested in taking classes at ACCA should complete the interest form at bit.ly/accainterest.
