A convicted child molester was found working at the Athens Community Career Academy on Thursday when the school ‘s director discovered that the worker was listed on the state sex offender registry.
Jeffrey Glynn Gryder, 51, of Gainesville, an employee of an Athens electrical contractor, had been convicted of child molestation in March 2023 in Hall County.
Under Georgia law, convicted sex offenders are forbidden from working or living within 1,000 feet of a school.
Police responded to the career academy’s Dearing Street campus and told Gryder that he had to leave and was not allowed to work on any Clarke County School District property.
His employer was similarly advised.
