Doherty decries last-minute Georgia election board changes

From the Lexy Doherty for Congress campaign:

Lexy Doherty, Democratic candidate for Congress in Georgia’s 10th district, joined Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in condemning the last-minute changes thrust onto local election officials by the State Election Board.

The five-member board is controlled by three Trump-aligned Republicans, one of whom having come under fire recently for appearing to trade his service to Trump on the board for a role in a future Trump administration. Trump publicly praised the three loyalists on the board as his “pit bulls” during an Atlanta rally earlier this month.

“I agree with Secretary of State Raffensperger that these unnecessary changes will only ‘undermine voter confidence and burden election workers,’” said Doherty. “These are Trump lackeys who were installed on the board to hijack the process and do Trump’s bidding. Their job is to inject chaos into our elections that Trump can take advantage of.”

Secretary Raffensperger, himself a Republican, warns that the new rules will delay the certification of the election. Every Georgia election precinct would be forced to hand-count ballots three additional times by three separate individuals and engage in a byzantine system of stacks of ballots. This would be on top of the strict election security laws instituted in the state since 2020, measures that garnered the state the #1 ranking in Election Integrity by the Heritage Foundation, the group behind Project 2025.

“I’ve served as a poll worker, and these new rules are just madness,” said Doherty. “This isn’t about security or election integrity—it’s about delaying certification on election night. A replay of 2020 isn’t possible if there’s certainty on election night. Trump needs that delay for his conspiracy theories to fester and grow.”

The 2020 election, which took place on November 3, was not called for Joe Biden until November 7, and former president Trump exploited the delay to insist that fraud was underway. Many see this new rule as a means to engineer a repeat of the election chaos of 2020, which culminated in the January 6 insurrection.

Georgia is a cesspool. Good luck getting rid of any of these corrupt people. I can only hope federal law will stop this, but trump has lackeys doing his bidding on the SCOTUS too. Kemp is the most shameful of them all. Boot licker is too soft a term for that boy.
