An Athens woman was arrested last week after she drove a car into several vehicles and a building.
The incident happened early the evening of February 17, when 55-year-old Jacqueline Denise Huff drove a Honda Accord into the North Grove Apartments complex on Old Hull Road and struck multiple parked cars and the side of a building then went into one of the apartments.
Police went to that apartment and found Huff lying on a couch. Officers observed that the woman’s speech was very slurred and that she was unable to walk on her own.
The apartment’s resident told police that Huff had been on a drinking binge of 3-4 days.
When police took Huff outside to speak with her, she tried sitting on a plastic bin she fell completely through it and was unable to get up. They found open beer cans in the Toyota.
A test of Huff’s breath by the Intoxilizer 9000 machine indicated that her blood-alcohol concentration was over three times the legal limit.
Huff was charged with DUI and leaving the scene/failure to report an accident.
