Alyssa Shay Doster, 18, of Winterville, was arrested last week for allegedly speeding in a construction zone on the Athens Perimeter.
A police officer was monitoring traffic on the inner loop between Mitchell Bridge Road and Oglethorpe Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. Feb. 20 when a Nissan Sentra driven by Doster sped past in apparent disregard for several construction zone speed reduction signs.
The officer pursued Doster, who turned off her car lights just before exiting the highway, and he found the Nissan at the Chevron station on Oglethorpe Avenue.
The teen reportedly had an odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath and claimed to have had just two shots of tequila, a bottle of which was in her car.
However, police said she failed roadside sobriety tests, and an Intoxilyzer 9000 test administered at the downtown police station indicated her blood-alcohol concentration was at .129 percent.
Doster was arrested for DUI, speeding in a work zone, driving without headlights on, and possession of open containers of alcohol in a vehicle.
She was releas from custody several hours later upon posting bonds totaling $1,900,
