An agent who began his career in law enforcement in Athens been promoted to special agent for Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Region 10.
The GBI announced that Matk Lavender had been promoted to special agent in charge for the region that includes the counties of Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton and Rockdale,
Lavender, who joined the Athens-Clarke police in 1998, has been a GBI agent for 22 years. He joined in 2001 and was assigned to the Gainesville Regional Drug Enforcement Office and later worked in Canton, and the GBI’s major theft unit.
