Freed Between The Lines: tiny art show for Banned Books Week

From the Athens-Clarke County Library System:

Celebrate freedom of expression and show your passion for literacy by participating in the Athens-Clarke County Library’s tiny art show, “Freed Between the Lines.” Patrons of all ages are encouraged to come to the library and pick up a tiny art kit, decorate it according to the theme, and return their canvas to be displayed during Banned Books week, September 22-28.

To show their support for the library and say no to censorship, patrons can pick up a free art kit at the library starting now. Patrons can decorate it any way they wish to express their artistic vision in keeping with the theme of “Freed Between the Lines.” Artists should return their canvases to the library in order to be included in the gallery.

A $50 gift card will be awarded to the canvas that is the best representation of theme and creativity, with a runner-up eligible for a $25 gift card. All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate, and a free art kit can be picked up at the library while supplies last. The kit will include the canvas, paints, and brushes. Entries will be accepted through September 28, and winners will be announced the week of October 1.

Two questions come to mind:

  1. How are they defining the word "banned"?

  2. Is there a list of these "banned" books?

They define ‘ban’ the same way you do. And yes, read any conservative article about books that involve any minority, and there’s your list.
