A teenage member of a local street gang has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to participating in an incident last year in which an unmarked police car came under fire.

Jamayas Lamont Allen, 18, pleaded guilty in Superior Court to aggravated assault and possession a firearm during the commission of a felony.

In accordance with Allen’s plea agreement with prosecutors, Judge Eric Norris sentenced him to five years in prison and 10 years on probation.

Two codefendant have court cases that remain in the pretrial stage.

The incident occurred early the morning of Sept. 3, 2023 when an unmarked police car occupied by a lieutenant in Athens-Clark County police Gang Unit came under fire from occupants of another vehicle while on North Lumpkin Street near Bethel Homes apartments.

An investigation identified three suspects, all of whom have identified as members of EBK (Everybody Killa), a local subset of the United Bloods Nation.

In addition to Allen, the suspects were identified as as Jordan Xavier Gresham and Amir Tyrek Mangham, who were later arrested on warrants.

Allen was arrested during the traffic stop of a car in which a Glock 19 semiautomatic pistol was located under his seat.
