The pedestrian who was killed Monday night on Lexington Road has been identified as 68-year-old Ronald Brown of Athens.
The incident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol, which provided the following preliminary information:
On March 10th, 2025, at approximately 9:00 pm, Post 32 Troopers were requested to investigate a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic crash on Georgia Highway 10 (Lexington Road) near Mabry Drive in Athens-Clarke County.  The investigation revealed that a pedestrian, later identified as Mr. Ronald Brown was traveling south attempting to cross Lexington Road. A white 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Mr. Cedrick Hanson (52 yr. old male) of Athens, GA, was traveling west on Lexington Road. The Chevrolet Silverado struck Mr. Brown in the middle of the westbound travel lanes. Mr. Brown was not in a designated crosswalk while attempting to cross the road and no charges are expected to be filed.
Hanson, the pickup’s driver is said by GSP to be a deputy with the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.
After the initial collision Brown was possibly struck by a second vehicle, according to the State Patrol.
