Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office are actively pursuing leads in the search for Maria Gomez-Perez, the 12-year-old girl who was last seen at her home in Gainesville five weeks ago. Despite extensive efforts, Maria remains missing, and the HCSO continues to prioritize her safe return.
The sheriff’s office on Tuesday released the following statement:
“The community’s involvement has been crucial in keeping Maria’s case in the public eye. Citizens have been encouraged to submit tips, distribute flyers, and post signs to aid in the investigation. However, the HCSO urges caution in these efforts, emphasizing safety protocols for those participating in the search:
DO keep vigilant for Maria, using photos provided by HCSO on their official social media platforms to aid recognition. It’s noted her appearance may have changed since her disappearance.
DO NOT conduct independent searches or group searches for Maria, as these can pose safety risks. Instead, report any sightings or information promptly to law enforcement.
DO share tips directly with the HCSO’s Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) at 770-503-3232 or via email at intelrequest@hallcounty.org. In emergencies, contact 911 or Hall County Central Communications at 770-536-8812.
DO NOT submit tips to third-party websites or social media platforms, as this could delay critical information reaching authorities.
DO exercise caution when considering donations related to Maria’s case, ensuring contributions are made only to verified sources. The reward fund for Maria’s safe return currently stands at $50,000, supported by local businesses and vetted community members.”
