A house in the Normaltown neighborhood of Athens was destroyed by fire Sunday morning.
The lone resident, Patti Thorne, got out uninjured from the house on Price Avenue after she was alerted to danger by smoke alarms, according to the Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services Department.
The house small single-story dwelling was already 75-percent engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived, according to the ACCFESD.
Thorne was transported to the hospital for observation due to smoke inhalation and potential carbon monoxide exposure.
