A Greene County man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery last month at an Athens adult novelties store.
Malcom Lamont Smith, 22, of Union Point was charged with armed robbery, theft by shoplifting and five counts of aggravated assault for the Sept, 1t ho9l-up at Elations on Lexington Road.
He was additionally charged with giving a false name to a police officer.
The assault charges were for brandishing a gun during the robbery in which Smith allegedly threatened five women in the store, including the clerk, who ranged in age from 20 to 28, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.
The employee and customers reportedly told police the suspect had a shirt wrapped around his head as he demanded money.
Smith was being detained without bail Thursday afternoon.
