A Clarke County grand jury last week indicted a man who pistol-whipped a woman when attempting to rob her four years ago on an eastside street corner.

Henry Thomas, 40, of Old Hull Road was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and criminal attempt to commit robbery, according to the indictment filed Jan. 11 in Superior Court.

The indictment alleges that in December 2021, Thomas broke the nose of 53-year-old Carmine Ruby during an assault at Gressom and Arch streets in which he tried to steal her wallet and car keys.

The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for fractured sinus and orbital bones, the court filing states.

At the time of the incident, Thomas was on probation for having shot someone in 2020, court records indicate.

Everyday another one. Like a broken rap record.

On probation for shooting someone in 2020...pistol whipping Miss Carmine in 2021 (lucky he didn't shoot her too?).

Until root causes are talked about and fearlessly addressed, what changes?
