A Clarke County grand jury has indicted an Athens man for allegedly attempting to lure a young girl into his car.
Bartrqua G. Nimely, 61, of Stonehenge Way was charged with one felony count of enticing a child for indecent purposes, according to the indictment filed Tuesday in Superior Court.
A police arrest warrant states that on September 28, 2023 Nimely “attempted to solicit a seven year old child for sex by asking the child to get into the vehicle with him and asked the child to have sex with him, using vulgar language to describe what he wanted to do with the child, to the child.”
Nimely was granted bail, released two days after his arrest by posting a $1,000 bond.
A Magistrate Court judge approved the bond on the condition that Nimely cannot have unsupervised contact with minors, and also barred him from the Nellie B community and Arch Street.
He waived his right to an arraignment and a plea of not guilty was entered into the court record on his behalf.
