An Athens man was recently sentenced to prison in connection with a domestic violence incident at a public park in which he stabbed his girlfriend.
Cordero Giovanny Pumadera, 37, pleaded guilty on October 4 to aggravated battery and felony family violence battery and was sentenced to four years in prison and eight years of probation.
The charges had stemmed from an incident with her girlfriend at Memorial Park on January 31 in which he punched Elizabeth Golem to the ground, dragged her by the hair and stabbed her in the torso, puncturing a lung.
Included in the grand jury indictment against Pumadera had been a charge of aggravated assault, but it was merged with the battery charge during plea negotiations with prosecutors.
