Motorcyclist killed in collision with trailer in Athens

An Athens man was killed Tuesday evening when his motorcycle collided with a trailer being towed by a pickup truck.

Athens-Clarke County Coroner Sonny Wilson identified the victim as Cameron Schmidt ,23, of International Drive.

Athens-Clarke police said the collision happened at about 6:36 p.m. when a Ford F-250 pickup towing a landscape trailer was in the process of turning from College Station Road onto University Circle when Schmidt’s motorcycle, which was traveling south on College Station Road collided with the trailer, ejecting the victim , who died at the scene.
