A suspect has been arrested for allegedly shooting a man last month on Nellie B Avenue.

David Lee Wilhelm, 51, of West Broad Street was arrested the night February 16 and charged with one count of aggravated assault.

He is accused by police of shooting 54-year-old Fairview Street resident Anthony Williams.

The incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. January 26 when a woman on the porch of her Vine Street home saw Williams being chased by another man who shot at him multiple times.

When officers arrived officers arrived at the scene Williams was lying in the middle of Nellie B Avenue and screaming for help. He claimed to not know who shot him or why and he was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Police have not released a motive for the crime.

Wilhelm is being held without bail in pretrial detention at the county jail.
