One person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting early Sunday outside of a bar on the west side of Athens.
According to police, the incident occurred outside International Bar and Grill on Mitchell Bridge Road shortly before 1 a.m.
Responding officers found one victim, 21-year-old Marquise Jackson of Athens, who died after being transported to the hospital, police said, and three other victims arrived at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from the same incident.
The incident apparently was the result of a dispute, according to police.
“The investigation is still in its early stages, but preliminary information suggests that there was some sort of altercation between the deceased and the suspect which led to the shooting,” Lt. Shaun Barnett said.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is asking for anyone with information, photos or videos related to the incident to contact Sgt. Scott Black at 762-400-7058 or scott.black@accgov.com.
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons involved in this incident.
