Pedestrians struck by car on Gaines School Road, one fatally

Two pedestrians were struck by a car Friday night on Gaines School Road, one of whom reportedly died at the scene.

Injuries sustained by the surviving victim were said by police officers to have been non-life threatening.

The incident occurred at around 8:40 p.m. between the Citgo station and McDonald’s.

The road was closed for nearly two hours while the incident was being investigated.

The identities of the victims were not immediately known, and the story will be updated when more information is available.
