The Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services Department posted the following on its Facebook page:
On 12/24/24 at approximately 5:15 a Cessna 337 Skymaster advised it was having difficulty with landing gear.
Engines 26 and 21, Tanker 1, Ladder 1, Car 31/34, Rescue 4, Hazmat 1 and a Ben Epps Airport ARFF unit responded to 1000 Ben Epps Dr. for an aircraft in distress. Engine 26 and T1 arrived on the scene and established Airport Command. Engine 26 and T1 along with other responding units pulled onto the runway as the aircraft landed.
The pilot was able to make a belly landing, and while there was some damage to the aircraft, no injuries were reported.
Special THANKS to all our 1st responders in fire and emergency services for being there when needed. And special thoughts and prayers to the pilot in bringing it in for a SAFE landing. Thank you to the entire
team at Ben Epps field for a job well done.
Have a blessed day,
