Potential dynamite find closes Athens neighborhood

The University of Georgia Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday was responding to a construction site on Jones Drive, in a neighborhood off of Timothy Road where a worker found an apparent stick of dynamite, according to Lt. John Bradford, acting public information officer for the Athens-Clarke County Police Reorts.at 

Police and fire units are at the scene, and Jones Drive will remain closed until the investigation is completed, according to a notice issued by the Athens-Clarke County government.
