Georgia football player released from jail after being arrested for domestic violence incident

By Joe Johnson

University of Georgia football player Rodarius Thomas was released from jail on Tuesday after posting bonds totaling $3,500. Shortly afterwards his lawyer spoke about the the case.

"I am pleased that bond could be set and Mr. Thomas released while we fully investigate the case," Kim Stephens said in a statement. "We expect that this matter can be resolved swiftly and fairly once all facts are known.”

The 22-year-old wide receiver was arrested early Friday morning by officers who responded to a domestic violence incident on Mill Creek Way.

He was booked into the county jail on three felony counts each of battery and second-degree cruelty to children.

The police department said it was by law prevented from making public details of the incident because of the child cruelty charges.

Thomas had been detained at the county jail until a hearing in which a Magistrate Court judge granted his bail.

The domestic violence arrest is the second for the UGA senior since he transferred last year from Mississippi State.

In January 2023, Thomas was charged by the University of Georgia Police Department police with false imprisonment and battery for assaulting a woman in a UGA dorm room.

The case was dismissed prior to indictment after the football player completed a pretrial diversion program.

Thomas was suspended from the football team following his arrest last week.

I'm glad this guy was suspended from the team. BTW, What happened to the article about the Coach not caring about the actions of all these rogue players? When questioned as to who wrote it, it disappeared.
