The Lyndon House Arts Center and Open Studio Membership Program will host a steamroller print event later this month. Printing with the steamroller will take place during events held on Saturday, September 28 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 29 from Noon – 5:00p.m. All activities are open to the public.
Visitors will watch the front entrance of the Lyndon House Arts Center turn into a big outdoor printing operation and we will have the biggest press in town! Prints will be pulled out from under a five-ton construction machine. In preparation, registered artists will be busy in the studios, carving four-foot wooden blocks to create their own relief image to print. Visitors are welcome to visit the studios to view the process of creating a large-scale relief block.
On Saturday, September 28, the relief blocks will be inked up and the steamroller will be driven over them to print large-scale images on paper and fabric. Attendees can assist in rolling ink and pulling prints. All will enjoy the magic of printmaking with a steamroller!
The large-scale prints will be hung to dry outside on a clothesline, after which they will be on display at the Lyndon House.
