An arrest has been made in connection with the burglaries of more than 30 storage units in Athens-Clarke County.
Kevin Moon, 31, of Westwood Drive was taken into custody January 31 on a felony probation violation.
In connection with the arrest, the police department’s Property Crimes Unit on Feb. 4 executed search warrants at Moon’s residence and a storage unit on Old Jefferson Road.
The searches, along with the recovery of a stolen Land Rover Discovery, resulted in the retrieval of numerous items related to more than 30 storage unit burglaries countywide.

Moon was subsequently charged with two counts of theft by receiving stolen property.
Additional crimes are expected to be charged when the case goes before a grand jury.
The police department is using this case to remind the public of some tips when using storage facilities.
“Document the make, model, and serial number of stored items,” said Property Crimes Unit supervisor Sgt. Brian O’Neill.
“Take pictures of these stored items. Periodically check on the condition of your storage unit,” he said. “These simple tips can go a long way toward recovering your belongings if they were ever stolen.”
Police asked for anyone with information concerning the storage unit burglaries to contact Detectives Harney and Freeland at tyler.harney@accgov.com / 762-400-7380 or daniel.freeland@accgov.com / 762-400-7391.
