It took them just four minutes to break into a store in downtown Athens and get away with at least $5,000.

That’s what police said happened Monday morning at the Home Town Kicks footwear shop on East Clayton Street.

Surveillance camera footage shows a burglar enter by smashing a window with a rock at 5:58 a.m. and leave with a cash register at 6:02 a.m.

An undetermined amount of merchandise was

stolen by accomplices.

The one thief was described by police as a “mixed male”who wore a purple jacket over a black hoodie, and who left the scene in a black Kia Telluride that displayed Georgia tag CYP3214.
