Suspect in custody after Athens student stabbed at school bus stop

An Athens high school student was injured by a knife-wielding attacker Wednesday morning at a bus stop near Parkview Homes apartments off West Broad Street.

The 16-year-old victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A suspect, identified as Kynodious Sanders, 17 of Athens, has been detained and is facing a acharge of aggravated assault.

A motive for the attack was unknown, but police said that the two teens knew each other.
