A high school teacher was killed and her husband injured when they were shot at a family Christmas Day gathering in Monroe.
When officers responded Wednesday night to a reported shooting at a home on Maple Lane they found the lifeless body of 35-year-old Tyeisha Colley in an SUV, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Jermaul Colley, 41, had also been shot and he was transported to the hospital.
A nephew, 21-year-old Devin Sullivan, was arrested and subsequently charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Family members told WSB-TV that Colley was a teacher at Salem High School in Conyers, and that the Monroe native had married her childhood sweetheart, Jermaul, a U.S. Army Veteran Jermaul Colley, with whom they adopted three children before having one of their own recently.
