A teacher who was on suspension for alleged inappropriate behavior with students at Cedar Shoals High School was arrested over the weekend on a stalking charge.

Sirius Xavier Michaels, 31, was arrested Sunday by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, but officials would not disclose details of the alleged stalking.

Sgt. Michael Poole said that it was related to something that supposedly occurred between Michaels and a student at Cedar for which the teacher was suspended two months ago.

Police initiated an investigation in January after Michaels was placed on administrative leave for allegedly having engaged in what the school district called "inappropriate conduct involving students."

Poole, a supervisor in the Family Protection Center where he is over sex crimes and crimes against children, has been investigating the matter for ACCPD.

He confirmed that the situation at the school was related to the alleged stalking, but would not elaborate.

The officer revealed that the stalking stemmed from Michaels having been barred on March 14 from Cici Pizza on Atlanta Highway.

A police incident report did not explain the reason for the barring, other than it was for a period of two years and was at the request of a manager at Cici.

"The incidents are connected," Poole said. "Michaels was charged with stalking while the school investigation is still active, (and) there was a stalking charge that emerged from that incident."

The officer added, "No additional information is being released at this time."

When asked about Michael's' employment status with the Clarke County School District, spokesperson Cyndee Moore said, "This employee will not be returning to Cedar Shoals or CCSD."

Moore did not explain what that meant.

As of Wednesday morning, Michaels remained at the county jail, waiting to be fitted with a GPS ankle monitor before being released on a $5,000 bond.

It seems to take about 5 days for the details to appear on the Clerk Of Court site.
