A 19-month-old boy died Sunday at Rolling Ridge Apartments, making him the third baby to have died in Athens since May.
There was nothing to indicate that foul play was involved, according to Coroner Sonny Wilson, who said that the cause of death was pending results of an autopsy.
The boy was unresponsive and not breathing when his mother woke up Sunday morning.
Wilson said that the baby had previously experienced “respiratory issues.”
The Athens-Clarke County coroner said he was still awaiting the results of autopsies that were conducted in May for babies that died less than week apart that month. Both were infants less than a year old.
