Athens-Clarke County police officers on Wednesday reportedly made two arrests and recovered a trove of stolen property when executing a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Pinecrest Court and a nearby vehicle.
According to a Thursday morning post on ACCPD’s Facebook page, detectives from the Property Crimes Unit, assisted by Uniform Patrol Division officers recovered four guns, along with thousands of rounds of ammunition. The guns included a semiautomatic rifle, a shotgun, and two handguns.
Three of the four guns are known to have been stolen from vehicles, and the fourth gun is also suspected to be stolen, according to ACCPD.
Other recovered property included multiple wallets, electronics, identification documents, financial transaction cards belonging to approximately 25 people. and various other stolen items.
Most of the recovered property was taken during a burglary and multiple vehicle break-ins, primarily the area of South Milledge Avenue over the last three months, according to police.
Two suspects, Sabrina Raquel Bodie and James Storm Howell, were taken into custody. Bodie, 25, of Jefferson was arrested on warrants charging her with two counts each of theft by deception and identity theft/fraud.
Howell, also 25 and from Jefferson, was driven to the county line where Oconee deputies took custody of him on a failure to appear in court warrant.
Additional charges are pending on both suspects, as well as on others, according to Athens-Clarke police.
