Two hospitalized after Barrow County house fire

The following was released Saturday by the Barrow County Fire Department:

This morning, Barrow County Fire Department units responded to a residential structure fire. Two occupants were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are currently being evaluated.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

This incident is a powerful reminder:

• Have working smoke alarms in every bedroom and hallway, and on every level of the home. Test them monthly.

• Create a home fire escape plan. Know two ways out and practice it with your family.
