A teenager was arrested Friday night in connection with a reported armed robbery on the University of Georgia campus.

Jeremiah Scott, 17, was booked into the county jail on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a pistol by a person under 18 years of age.

According to the university, UGA police officers responded at about 10 p.m. to a reported armed robbery at the crosswalk between Church Hall and Boggs Hall.

Upon arriving in the area, officers spotted the suspect and arrested him after a brief foot pursuit.

A good start to his career-criminal status.

Thanks to his parents we have to deal with this animal.

Parents from all over the state and the country send their children to Athens to be educated. Safety is presumed. Dude, I'm sorry you're only 17 but your life is so close to being toast I can feel the heat. Take the punishment, get a job, finish school, join the Army, Do anything you can to get the hell our of this environment you live in.

I’m also not surprised by your uneducated response. It’s funny you think HOPE scholarships give access to UGA for everyone. It’s also funny you don’t realize that property taxes pay for public education. It’s also not surprising you don’t understand how losing 1/2 of the county’s property taxes affects local schools. Critical thinking is obviously not your strong suit, but I’m not surprised considering your comments on the news stories here.

If his parents enabled him to have the pistol, they may be charged, too!
