UGA student dies in Athens hotel room

A University of Georgia student died this week in a hotel room near downtown Athens.

Brooke Ashley Williams, 19, was found unresponsive at about 7:30 a.m. by her roommate, who called 911 and attempted CPR.

A police report indicates that the student was deceased when officers arrived at the scene.

The students were living at Homewood Suites on East Broad Street while their sorority house is being renovated.

An autopsy is to be performed to determine the cause of death, according to police.
