A University of Georgia student reported that he was attacked with a broken beer bottle Saturday night at a bar in downtown Athens.
The student said he was at General Beauregard’s on East Clayton Street at about 1 a.m. when he went upstairs to buy a soda, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.
He said that a white male then “walked straight at him,” smashed a beer bottle and slashed his face multiple times, the report noted, and someone also grabbed him by the arms from behind, while another person punched him in the face.
Several friends who witnessed the incident reportedly identified the attacker as a University of North Georgia student, according to the police report.
I don't think anything about the description was implying anything. Any criminal report narrative gives a description of the persons involved, i.e white, black, hispanic, male, female etc. If you got stabbed do you want the report just to describe them as a person, no description? He's not trying to "add" to the story. It's called reporting the facts. (Sorry, that should have been a reply to Arthur Crumpton)

Great stock photo. I almost feel like I was there.
