A 21-year-old University of Georgia student was recently spooked by a suspicious man driving an SUV.
The incident happened late in the morning of Jan. 31 when the student got off a UGA transit bus on Miledge Avenue and a burgundy Dodge Nitro with gray fender flares began to follow her.
The vehicle sped up and slowed whenever she did and continued to follow after she turned to walk down Hill Street. After crossing the road the SUV turned onto Church Street but then quickly reappeared behind her.
The student described the driver as a middle aged black man with a bald or closely shaved head. He kept trying to engage the student in conversation, but she ignored him and he drove away after the young woman ducked into a business and called a parent.
Police obtained a surveillance video of the vehicle but its tag was not visible.
